The official Scorebet site went down a few days ago and punters are looking for answers as to why the site is down. We at Best Sports Betting have done a little digging and can confirm that the site is still down and we’re not entirely sure why. If you are a Scorebet customer and have pending bets or a balance then we’re happy to share a few steps you should be taking.

Checking the 'Download sequence' box will also download a FASTA file of the whole genome sequence for offline use. Scorebet Outage Update

Scorebet have fully restored their services and are fully operational again.

How long will Scorebet be down for?

It’s already established that when you visit the Scorebet site you get a 502 gateway error. For those that don’t know what the error is :

The 502 Bad Gateway error is an HTTP status code that means that one server on the internet received an invalid response from another server. 502 Bad Gateway errors are completely independent of your particular setup, meaning that you could see one in anybrowser, on anyoperating system, and on anydevice. The 502 Bad Gateway error displays inside the internet browser window, just like web pages do.

This points to a problem with either Scorebet or their Software provider, Bettech. Bettech provide Scorebet with their odds feeds and support so it could be a problem with either, we just aren’t sure.

What have Scorebet announced?

There’s been little from Scorebet on the issue, the only update we got was from contacting them directly and from a post on their Facebook page.

They mention their site being down and that they are working on it but don’t give a timeline which means the issue is likely pretty serious. There have been no further updates from Scorebet since the Facebook post on the 7th October 2019.

What can I do?

If you have pending bets or funds in your Scorebet account there is not much you can do for the moment. There’s clearly something going on and we understand that punters want to get their money out incase its a permanent closure. If you have funds in your Scorebet account we recommend taking the following steps :

• Decide if you want to withdraw your funds or wait for more information from Scorebet
• Contact Scorebet to request the funds be manually withdrawn by them or when they’ll be able to process a withdrawal
• Should Scorebet not be able or willing to assist you’ll need to let them know that you are unhappy and will take the matter further
• The last step would be to lodge a complaint against the bookmaker with the NBG (National Gaming Board) who will look into the matter for you, however this could take months and still have no resolution

What we recommend you do

Don’t panic, not yet! They’ve only been down for a few days, for those that remember Supabets was down with a similar issue for almost a week. Our advise is to sit tight until closer to the weekend. If there are still no announcements or changes then it’s time to start looking at a few of the options mentioned above.

Scorebet Review

The Scorebet landing page is your standard Bettech skin with a slight twist, the twist being a Bettech site that is actually nice to look at, who would’ve thought! They’ve moved the banner carousel to the centre of the screen instead of having it as a header, which most sites do.

The colours are bright and bold, they really stand out and they’ve done a very good job with the branding. You’ll find the site to be clean and responsive on desktop and mobile with everything right at your fingertips. The register and login in buttons stand out which is a good touch as there are some much bigger sites (Betx) that haven’t managed to get this right.

Scorebet have the usual solid Bettech Quicklinks on the left hand side which give punters quick access to all the current and upcoming events. They’re also clearly keeping up to date with current events as they’ve updated the quicklinks on a regular basis. It’s a small touch but it makes a world of difference.

Markets

Scorebet have improved from their initial offering which had no inplay on offer. They now have a very comprehensive inplay and prematch market selection. It’s not going to blow your socks off but it’s more than adequate for now. We do have to give Scorebet praise for the improvement here, as the previous offering was nowhere near as good as what they have now. Additionally the odds are fair which is pretty much to be expected from a Bettech based bookmaker.

Scorebet Promotions

Scorebet don’t have any fixed promotions like you’d find at bookmakers like Sportingbet. However they do have event based promotions that we found to be pretty good. Some examples of recent promotions they ran were a World Cup 50% deposit match up to 10k and a live inplay lucky draw. Where you could win R2000 for placing inplay bets with Scorebet. We’d like to see some more general promotions like first try scorer bore draw etc as they would add a great deal of value to an otherwise neglected promotion section.

Overall Experience

Our previous review of Scorebet was scathing and in our opinion fully deserved. However with recent changes and updates Scorebet have really done a good job with the improvements. The site is easy to use and perfectly functional, we know this is what we expect from bookmakers these days but honestly the current site is infinitely better than the previous one.

The addition of a R2000 deposit bonus and actual promotions all count heavily in their favour. As we said before Scorebet is not going to blow your socks off but it will be a solid betting experience, one that we certainly recommend.
